STATEMENT: Back to the Office

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Edmonton, Alberta, September 17, 2025 – Edmonton mayoral candidate Rahim Jaffer says he will restore faster, face-to-face service at City Hall by reinstating mandatory in-office work for municipal employees.

“This means faster permits, quicker payments and better public service,” Jaffer said. “Remote work has slowed service delivery, created poor customer service and contributed to the downturn in our downtown. Edmontonians deserve better.”

Jaffer said that under his plan, municipal staff would be required to return to in-person work to ensure services are delivered promptly and professionally.

“City Hall works for you — in person,” Jaffer said.
